In general, the meanest students are in middle schools.

Not Jr Highs, middle schools. There is a difference.

People are a little mean in high school, but in middle school you've got all those asswhipes trying to become official popular kids and becoming bullies to try to compensate for their lack of popularity.

People always talk about high schools being mean, but there's no comparison.

[No, I'm not in middle school anymore (barely high school either), I'm saying this in retrospect because my dad was talking about it today and I was like yeah, wtf. People have that backwards.]

Well that was when everyone started being stupid.

From age 10-14ish kids are really horrible.

I actually do agree with this.  In elementary, most kids are really excited about the education aspect and not so much about the popularity.  5th grade is a little bad, but not really.  5th graders take seem to take pride in being the ones the younger ages look up to and respect.

Then there's high school, a place where there's such a variety of people and everyone can find some group to fit in.  You have students from all over the township in that high school, and because there's so many people, it's not that much of a care to be the "absolute popular" kid.

Middle school though, those are the awkward years.  You're going through puberty and you know longer share the same school as the elementary kids, so there is no one to look up to you.  Instead, these kids only have the high schoolers to look up to.  However, their view of high schoolers is often tainted by what they see on tv or what has always been portrayed as what high school kids are like.  They think popularity is the shit, and the only way to acquire popularity is by being mean.

In the end though, it comes down to middle schoolers often are a bunch of pre-pubescent, moody, bitches.

I agree.  Middle school, the 8th grade more specifically (though the 7th was all that wonderful either), was one of the worst times in my life.  Everybody seemed so uptight.  I found the social atmosphere of high school a lot more easy going and cool with whatever compared to the rigid social structure of middle school, where harrassment was prevalent if you didn't happen to fit in entirely, and where you couldn't befriend anybody deemed a loser without threatening your own social status.

I completely disagree.  I was actually surprised by how friendly the people were in middle school.  High School wasn't too bad, either, but it had more of that irritating drama as people started to find ways to make themselves seem better than other people.

But yeah, from my experience with each of primary school, middle school, high school, and college, I can say that middle school struck me as the friendliest, and I noticed this both while I was there and in retrospect.

Surely, though, all of these things vary a great deal by school.  Different schools have different people, cultures, etc.

I was respected and treated pretty okay, but there were many hard times.

A lot of the bad times had to do with me being different.  Kids don't really understnad that everyone isn't the same and you are not going to fit in all the time.

I had a back brace and braces on my teeth.  Imagine how much I felt like I stood out.  Kids wanted to know about it.  I was shy, wanted to just fit it, and not be noticed.
