Well my father has been nagging the crap out of me about smoking and drinking a lot. I smoke about 3-4 packs a week and drink about 12oz or more of hard liquor a night after work. It's usually vodka but sometimes I go to whiskey or beer.

Is 12 oz really that bad? I work really hard and enjoy the taste and a good relaxed sleep afterwards. I work the same job as him except a bit harder because I'm somewhat new and get bitch work. I'm am ready to go to college and have everything set up to go next year, so I figure what is the problem? I'm always on time and never complain about the schedule.

Usually I don't let nagging bother me, but this is a daily argument.

It's a bad cycle with drinking. Soon you'll want more and depend on it.

12 ounces if I am not mistaken 1/3 of a litre. That's enough to get me rowdy on a good night... I don't fucking know how you can drink that every night.

A couple nips of whiskey or vodka isn't bad for you on a regular basis but 12oz is bad. It'll get worse as you get older if you don't get your shit together.

Drinking any amount on a "regular" basis is bad. It means you have a form of dependence on the substance. Therefore that leads to alcoholism.
Your best bet is to start laying off slowly. Don't quit "cold turkey" or your body will go through a hard withdrawal, and that usually leads to a heavier dependence. The best thing to do is to get help before it leads to other things. Especially if you are getting ready to go to school. You don't want alcohol getting in the way of your education.
