My roommate is obese. 5'2 and 200 lbs is my estimate.  She doesnt seem to give a shit and eats really badly and just sits in front of the computer all day.
I wish she'd be healthier and at least walked around the track every day.
Anyway, my issue is that she breathes really heavily and I can't stand it.   It's annoying and her mere presence bothers me.  I cant believe her parents dont say anything to hep her out, they probably "dont wanna bother her".
She'll probably die by age 40.

How do I tune her out?

Ear plugs are a greatttt thing.

You could suggest to go on walks and whatnot together.. invite her along with you and some other friends while you do active things?

Thank you.

She actually just told her friend who is staying over that she wants to wake up early and walk on the track tomorrow.  I'll go with her, especially because her (also very overweight, but not enormous) friend doesnt want to wake up early.

Both of her parents are pretty thin, so I know there's a possibility she's ill but none that I doubt it.
Wendy's, pizza, Oreos, and Taco Cabana plus sitting around the whole day would make anyone enormous.

I am neither rude nor ignorant. I haven't said anything to her or made her uncomfortable.  She just has an uncaring attitude about it and it bothers me.

If my (pretty lazy) friend lost 20 lbs just by working out, why can't she?

You seem to have a problem with people being obese and are intollerant.
Why do you wish she'd be healthier?  Because you care about her?  It doesn't sound like that.

The only thing she does that affects you is breathes heavily.  You can't stand it.  That's your problem.  Would you feel the same way if a normal weight person who had a breathing problem breathed heavily?

"her mere presence bothers me"   That statement is all about you, not her.

You can't tune her out; it's her room as much as yours.  Do both of you a favor and move out.  I'm sure you attitude is clear to her and she deserves better.

You could offer to work out with her. Suggest that you two go for a walk to the grocery store and get some fresh fruit and veggies to eat during a movie night. If you actually care about her as a human being, try to help instead of making her feel bad.
