Right now I'm in my third year of college, and I only get drunk once to twice a week, on a Friday or Saturday night. (Keep in mind I usually drink a six-pack and don't have black outs). I have around a 75% average right now, but I'm trying to get it higher so I can get into grad school. Some people have told me that I have to go out less and stop getting drunk to do better in school. On all other nights and all other days of the week I work hard. So my question is: if you're in college, how often do you go out (e.g. go to the bars) and get drunk? What's your average? Is it still possible to go out twice a week (getting drunk) while also getting really good grades into the 80s? Note: I'm referring to getting drunk when school is in session. During the summer it doesn't really matter, but someone told me even getting drunk during the summer will depleted your brain cell reserves and result in poorer academic performance!

I just finished my first semester, and I only went out once...ever. Really though, I think as long as you're being responsible you should be fine. Although I suggest not doing it on school nights.

Never gone out and gotten drunk. I've seen too many idiots trying to stumble back from the frathouses to their dorms. I do drink when I go home for the weekends, though it's with food, and it's wine. >_>

I rarely go out since most places around me card and I'm under 21. I get drunk two or three times a week, although I have a drink pretty much every day.

Depends. Are you naturally smart or do you need to push yourself to get good grades? I'm in a pretty tough program so I usually schedule my drinking around my coursework [Aerospace/Astronautical engineering with a minor in Philosophy]. Also, we typically don't go OUT very often. If I do go out it is to one of my room mate's frats [Two of them are in two different one's, myself and the last room mate are independent] but that's maybe once a week, or once every two weeks. Typically, though, we drink at our house at least 4 nights a week. [though, of course there are a lot of times when my work just doesn't permit that]. I typically don't get that drunk, but I do like to get a good buzz going on. Maybe like 6 or 7 in a usual night. But I'm naturally smart --as they say-- and can get B's without much effort. Some of my friends resent me a bit for it I think, because I can drink frequently and smoke every day and still maintain a dean's list GPA and rank. So, I guess you can take what you will from that --though to me it sort of just sounded a lot like boasting, even though it was supposed to show you a counter example...
