Hello

I'm thinking about contacting sony about my PS3. I've not had problems with my PS3 untill the last month or so. my main problem is the USB ports.

they simply do not work. I have bought a USB memory stick, new controlers and a external hardrive. yet everytime i plug them in nothing happends. the USB or the hdd is not noticed, and the contoler doesn't charge.

sometimes it does work though, if i keep constantly inserting my memory stick, and wait for a few minutes it notices it. although i have to do this about 10+ times, and even then chances are it still won't work.

as soon as it did notice it i backed up the PS3 data using the backup utlity and reformated it. although now i can't restore it as the PS3 is just refusing to acknolage the USB devices.

its also little things, the PS3 becoming extremly unstable, its constantly crashing and freazing. especially when i read a new message. i will have to turn of the PS3 by pushing the power button on the console. It's been getting worse.

i'm thinking of contacing sony, perhaps they will give me a replacement. but i don't have the box or the reciept. my friend's PS3 stoped reading disk. someone came and collected his PS3, and done a straight swap whilst they went to repair his PS3. aparently sony customer care is the best.

i know my cousin had problems with his. Like your friends, it wasnt reading the disk. They didnt give him a replacement though, he had to wait a week or so untill they fixed it.
He also had no reciept, and they didnt ask for it to be packed in the same box you got it in.

Its worth a try, i mean if its not working they should fix it

You don't need the box, but you do need a receipt...If you or whoever bought it paid with a credit card you can try and look up online where/when you bought it, print that out, and they'll accept that.

If you don't have any proof of purchase, they'll repair/replace it for like $150.

If you have a credit card, they usually don't even require the receipt.

When your Playstation 3 freezes do not turn it off with the main power switch that's located on the back of your Playstation 3. You will fuck up your Blu-Ray drive and your Playstation 3 will stop reading disc. You have to hold down the front power button until it beeps. That's the correct way to shut off your Playstation 3 and Blu-ray drive.

It's even in the manual that comes with your Playstation 3.

aparently sony customer care is the best.

I heard differently. but a swap is nothing. most componies do that now. saves time just to swap than fix.

Swaps can be more cost effective, too. Just switching them out versus having to diagnose the problem, pinpoint what needs to be fixed, and replacing it would all require a bunch more people to be paid to do so.
