Hitler could be defined as great because he pulled Germany out of a massive depression and rebuilt Germany into one of the strongest countries in the world within 10 or so years despite the terrible Treaty of Versaille that the French and British forced Germany to accept.

That doesn't mean he wasn't a mass killing lunatic.
