I don't really care.  Wait, no, I do care, but I haven't been that exposed and I've mostly been through the run-of-the-mill, "Only hicks with low IQs have incestuous relationships" stereotypes.   I'm sure I could overcome that prejudice as the only ration reason that it's wrong is genetics, and that's probably only an excuse to perpetuate that stigma.  I don't think most people really give a shit about genetics.  It's not their genes that are being effected.

I would never do it but I'm not going to argue that it's inherently wrong. People have the right to do it if both parties are consenting.

People really blow the genetic mutation thing way out of proportion. Basically the biggest risk is that two related people would posses the same dormant genes. It's not like oh you're brother and sister, you're baby is just going to be retarded by default.

There's a famous example of one side affect of incest, the Hasburg family.

I'm not into my own family, but if other people are, I don't have a problem with it. As long as they don't have kids, that is. People are so judgmental about incest. As long as it's consensual, who cares?
The "eww I could never imagine wanting to sleep with my family" argument annoys me. I could never imagine wanting to sleep with a man, but I don't call straight people disgusting. As long as all parties involved consent, then it's fine. Absolutely fine.

From a societal standpoint, yes, incest is wrong. Why? Because for years and years we have been told it is wrong. If we were all placed in a room with paper bags over our faces, and procreated with each other, we would not be able to tell, as sex with a family member does not instantly set ones genitals on fire, or kill you.

However, from a biological standpoint, incest is quite wrong. In order to keep the gene pool varied, it is imperative that people from the same blood line don't reproduce. I'm not quite certain which state it is in, but the famed "blue people" from the Appalachian area bring up an excellent example of what inbreeding can do to people. Very similar to this is the family history of hemophilia in the Victorian royal family.

Basically, yes, I have a problem with incest, on not only a moral, but also a scientific level.

It's the Fugate family from Kentucky.

The disease is called methemoglobinemia.
