I figured it out on my own because when I started accusing the Easter bunny of stealing my eggs my mom gave in and told me he wasn't real, so I asked if Santa clause was fake too and she confirmed my suspicion that he was.

She told my little brother Santa wasn't real but that it's ok to believe and he chose to believe. I only think it's wrong when parents actively trick their kids like making fake videos and such.

The hell? You can't choose to believe unless you have some sort of memory swiper.

There's a difference in being a four year old and believing in something for fun, dear.

Did you ever actually believe that the cat in the hat was real?

You're still not acknowledging the difference between pretending and believing.

I don't know, I can't remember. maybe? maybe not.

I'm not understanding why that different matters.

When I was a kid I pretended I could use animal powers and I believed that shit even though at the same time I knew it was fake, WHILE I pretended, I believed it though.

Maybe my brother and I just didn't have shitty imaginations.

That's kind of how it was with us and Santa Claus, only it was that way from the very beginning.

Imaginations are fun.

What the hell

you believed that your powers were fake at the same time as believing they were real?

What you're thinking of is pretending, no believing.

I never imagined Santa, I believed what I was told about him the way you believe what you're told about the bible.

Ok if a stand-up comedian tells you and an audience a story about his parents dying that you know is made-up, because it's just not supposed to be believable, it's different than if I tell you that my parents died and there's no implication that I'm making it up.

If I was your friend irl and you found out I was lying about that, you'd probably feel mad, but you won't feel mad if you read about the stand-up comedians parents because you never really believed his funny story.

No Bearsy, WHILE I was pretending, I actually believed it, like if you're dreaming, and you don't know it's a dream, you believe it's happening.

I'm sorry to hear that you lacked this imagination even as a four year old. :(
