Is it really right to continue lying to kids about Santa Clause?

Sure, that's applicable when it comes to in general, but you being a Christian should consider the implication of the Bible being pretty clearly against telling people things that aren't true while intending to make them believe those things are true.

*shrug* I don't really care either way. I'm just not a fan of people being called somehow illogical or unreasonable for holding a dissenting opinion.

Were you just never given that little miss cookware set you so desperately wanted for Christmas, or is this deep seeded hatred of the world's fascination with Santa your own inability to appreciate childlike majesty and wonder?  If anything, you seem to be a proponent of squashing parents' rights of teaching their children what they choose to do so, but I've NEVER heard you be a proponent of sexual purity short of marriage.. why?  You argue that it is an insufficient argument to blatantly and condemn it completely if there isn't anything written within scripture that explicitly condemns the action either way. [Note: See Sexual Immorality whenever we understand the implication of not waiting before marriage]

Therefore, you're a proponent of not bearing false witness to your children whereas you sleep with your fiance?  Slave to morality you must be.

I don't sleep with my fiance, first.

Second, you're putting a lot of words in my mouth and a lot of attitudes in my post that don't exist. I have no bitterness. I don't really care one way or the other about Santa Claus (well, admittedly, I was rather annoyed that the line to see him at the mall was getting in the way of me getting into Crate & Barrel, but that's another story). Why are you getting so emotional over this?

And really, you're one to talk about sexual purity before marriage.

Whereas I never insinuated parents to be "piss poor" simply for telling their children about a mythical character we all know as Santa.  As for how I feel toward sexual immorality, I will admit that I want sex almost constantly.  I've slept with a number of women, but no more than fingers on my right hand.. however, haven't done so for well over 9 months.  I have renewed my initial commitment to do so after marriage, because I value my relationship with Lisa, as well.

Changing my actions entirely from they once were is a sign of improvement, not necessarily hypocrisy.  We're all hypocrites, yes, but this is an example for which my sense of morality has adjusted in order to maintain a relationship that I perceive to be worth more than mere sexual gratification.

By the way, you never answered my question for how you'd react if your fiance gave your child a gift entitled "From Santa" in the from caption.. but you do launch a defense against me implying that you've slept with your fiance?

You read incorrectly; the parents who are piss-poor are the ones who need to tell their kids that Santa won't come unless they're good in order to make them behave. That's not my fault, as I stated it pretty clearly.

In any case, you're still getting overly emotional about this with the whole throwing attitudes into the discussion that don't actually exist.

Which is completely plausible.  I assumed that it was a personal attack.  Sorry to have misread you.

'sokay, it happens.

Though, generally speaking, you can overtly tell when I'm personally attacking...no assumptions necessary ;)
