I'm sitting in the net cafe right now, listening to the call to prayer. I don't even know what to say there is so much. It's a huge culture shock. Tampons don't exist here, at least that I know of. Toilette paper? You can buy it (it's pretty cheep) but most people spray their asses with water. My mom is actually upset that I wont convert. I told her I would sacrifice the tampons and MSG but I will not spray my ass with water.

There are donkeys and horses everywhere and stray cats. I'm not talking a few here and there. THEY ARE EVERYWHERE. It's Peta's wet dream. All the veggies are fresh and organic. The eggs sit out in the sun (And don't make you sick when you eat them) and meat hangs on hooks. There are shops everywhere selling everything you could imagine. Gold, gold, gold. Everywhere and cheep.

The sea is beautiful as well. I wish everyone could see it. I'll take pictures. Alexandria is enormous. By enormous I mean you have to look way up to see the top of a building. It's like new york times ten.

-Sigh-

It's actually scary. Last night I was scared shitless on the train and in our taxi. A three lane is really a five lane and no one knows how to drive. Two rules: Go really fast and wedge yourself in wherever you can.

Seat belts? Have yet to see one.

Have you seen the pyramids and the Sphinx and all that?  What about a cruise up the Nile River from Cairo to Aswan?  Last time I visited Egypt I took that cruise and it was three days long; we'd stop at lots of historical sites along the way.  And if you're in Cairo, you have GOT to go to the shopping district; I forgot it's name but basically a gigantic market that sells all kinds of stuff from swords to pirated DVDs to anything made of gold to even replicas of small obelisks and Rosetta Stones.
