Well, my father has been diagnosed with it since around seventeen. Lithium didn't work, but he was too wild back in those days for it to do so. These days depacote helps. My mother, who is also diagnosed with it, just smokes weed..and it keeps her pretty sane...but yeah...ha.

therapy makes it worse. 3 Of my Best Friends have Bi Polar and the only thing i can suggest is Find someone to go to that makes you happy and spend as much time as you can with him or her.

K well i have it. Um its not serious tho. I have tried soo many different meds for it and i go to a councilor every single Wednesday, and a psychiatrist once a month. Actually in the fall last year i started taking Abilify and it lowered my seizure threshold and now i have simple partial focal seizures. SO what do i do about it. Nothing. My parents do everything about it and fuck up my life even more.

Yeah it's pretty hard to deal with... meds cause way to many side effects and cause me to miss school/do shitty in school so I gave up on them after a couple years. Ive had a therapist who is pretty much my best friend for like three years and he keeps me sane. That and friends and weed.

Bipolar Affective Disorder is a term that is professionally used for manic depression. Manic depression involves wide mood alterations, with periods of depression and mania. Bipolar means sharing two poles, high and low, and Affective Disorder means a disorder associated with mood. The cause of Bipolar Disorder is not known. Highly creative, sensitive people, perfectionists and high achievers, have a higher incidence of bipolar affective disorder, however any person can develop manic depression. Although biological factors seem to play a major role in producing the illness, a person's personality also plays a part in bringing on an acute episode. Factors such as death, separation and divorce may trigger the disorder. The illness manifests itself with the episodes of mania or elation followed by low mood or depression and the number of manic and depressive episodes varies greatly from person to person. It is nice to hear that you want to help your uncle, and the best thing that you can do for him is to be there for him. It is important that he is under supervision of your doctor. Hope that everything will be ok.
