Fender 5 way selector switch

okay so i got a guitar from fender with a 5 way selector switch. now i'm sorta OCD over these nitpicky things so i'm always changing the switch to a different position.

could someone please help me get this over with and tell me which position is best for just general playing (like a position that can pretty much fit any type of music without much difference)?

depends on the guitar. though id generally go with bridge setting.

Does it have single coils or a mixture of single coils and a humbucker?

dude.... so i have this sorta problem as well. and for most general purposes, if you point the stick towards the neck all the way, and then turn the tone for that to about 3-5 youll get this classic electric guitar sound. it may not work for all types of music, but its awsome for the vast majority of it!  <br> hope this helps!

keep it on bridge setting when playing power chords and stuff like that. If you're gonna do some lead work, flick it up 1 before its full neck setting. And then it should sound pretty sweet. But it all depends on what kind of amp you're using.. My experiance, steer clear of Marshall amps, unless they're hand wired.. But like i said, it all comes down to what kind of music you're wanting to play..
