But the genius of Shakespeare has never been the plot, it is wrong to judge his plays on the basis of said element. Hamlet is not famous for the plot of the story. The plot of Romeo and Juliet was outright copied from other stories.

Hamlet becomes a man at the onset of the play, it is precisely because he is a man that he acts as he does throughout.

I was always under the impression that 'Julius Caesar' and 'Richard III' were widely studied....

Not nearly as widely as Romeo & Juliet or Hamlet. Or even Macbeth, for that matter.

I think they are in 3rd Level, certainly here

Mmm, I still doubt they're studied as widely as Romeo & Juliet, Hamlet or Macbeth. They may be studied where you are, but that doesn't mean that they're as widely studied.

To each their own.. I enjoy quoting or referencing Shakespeare without necessarily requiring myself to read them thoroughly in order to use them..

Most people quote the characters in the play that were considered retarded in contecxt, but they quote them seriously, which gives me a good laugh.

I dont think youve looked into this and have just thrown it out. I dont think no matter how many times I tell you that those 2 plays are studied widely and deeply at a higher level of education you will take it into consideration. They are 2 of the most widely quoted plays in history.

Alright, then: back it up. Show me proof that more schools teach Julius Caesar and Richard III than Romeo & Juliet and Hamlet.

and how dear lady am I supposed to prove that other than by saying that in Ireland NUIG, UL, NUIM, TCD, UCD, UCC, and DCU all have thise two plays on their English literature degrees, secondly the colleges of Queen Mary, Cambridge and Oxford in the UK has them, amongst others Im sure.

This came from my own research last year into a possible degree in English literature.

Which is all well and good...if Ireland was the only country in the world and there were only those three universities in England.

Try again.

well prove to me that they arent widely studied then...I find it hard to believe that if we study them your universities wouldnt, and once again youre not being rational.

They are studied widely.

How am I not being rational to point out that Ireland is not the entire world?

Furthermore, you were the one that made the claim that Julius Caesar and Richard III are more widely studied than Romeo & Juliet and Hamlet; therefore, the burden of proof is on you. Let me know when you've got something.

I made no such claim. Find words where I said that.

That is how you are being irrational.

In case you're not getting it, let me translate:

You: Julius Caesar and Richard III are widely studied.

Me: Not nearly as widely studied as Romeo & Juliet and Hamlet.

You: They are [as widely studied as Romeo & Juliet and Hamlet] in third level. (note the claim)

Ergo: kindly prove your claim. Thanks.
