If I remember correctly, Whiskey comes from Irish distillers.  Whisky, however, comes from the Scottish.

The Irish whiskey is almost as bad as beer.

No matter what you are drinking, the fact that you are american mean you spell it whiskey.

ONLY Scottish and Canadian call it Whisky.
