My computer monitor will randomly look stretched out. Like today I turned on my computer(windows xp hp laptop) and the monitor was stretched out from left to right. Later the screen went black and went back to normal. Why does my computer screen do this sometimes and can I stop it from happening?

If your screen looks stretched I suggest you look into control panel -> Appearance -> Screen resolution. The options to make your screen wider or shorter are in here, you can fiddle around making it wider until you find the right setting you need.

A good solution to this would be to update your graphics card or at least check the right drivers are installed. The way to find what graphics card you have is to right click on your desktop then Properties > Settings > Advanced > Adapter. Here should tell you what graphics card you have and you can google drivers for the card you have, not having updated drivers may be your issue.
