I use to be able to hook my laptop up to my step dad's printer with the simple usb cord.
Until my computer started asking for the CD to be installed, which we no longer have.
My step dad got a new computer, and the printer prints from there fine.
Why would my computer have problems with needing the CD?

Is there anyway I can hook my laptop up the the printer and print again without the CD?

Sounds like you need to download the drivers to your laptop for the printer. Just go to the printer's website (if it's HP, go to hp.com, as an example) and try to find the driver.

If you want, I'm sure someone could help you out if you can't find it yourself. Just tell us what printer it is.
