What is going on in Israel? Who are they attacking? Why?

Last I heard Hezzbolah was coming to the aid of Hamas and was firing rockets on Israel from the north in an effort to relieve some of the pressure on Hamas.

Hamas and Israel (not sure about Hezzbolah) also are apparently having "secret" meetings, in Egypt, in order to re-establish a cease-fire.

Summary: Israel is attacking Gaza because the terrorist organization Hamas is located their and was launching rockets on them during a cease-fire.
