True, that's largely due to the lack of bomb shelters, hardened facilities and other precautions of having to deal with decades of being attacked by rockets and suicide bombers.

Explain to me why Israelis must live with such fears.

They cant be treated as individual cases when the fact is that the "homicides" all came from the same group of people, Hamas.

Now was the extreme reaction of Israel appropriate? It can be argued that the invasion and missile attacks were a little too much but again, Israel is in the midst of an area where not only Iran but Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood amongst others want Israel wiped from the map.

When an attack from one of these groups happens on Israel, I am not surprised to see them react the way they did. They are in constant danger of being attacked and their response IMO is understandable albeit extreme.

There are reasons and logic behind how we feel. We're not just freaking nuts. We see what Israel is doing, and how it is taking advantage of having more power. If Israel wanted peace, they would have not marched into Gaza. This will only make the situation worse.

We are FOR peace. But we are AGAINST how Israel is dealing with this matter.

Israel wanted peace when they allowed the Palestinians the Gaza Strip. They have tried to go along with peace negotiations until a few days ago, Hamas sent rockets across the border at Israeli civilians, breaking a cease fire unprovoked. It then became clear that Hamas had NO INTENTION of peace negotiations.  

They have made it clear that they want Israel gone. In Israeli's mind the time for negotiation has passed (for now). Negotiation has been attempted and reached a dead end constantly. Now do I want peace negotiations to stop?  

Of course not. I want them to find peace. However I can see why the Israelis are taking action. Now I wont condone the deaths of over 70 civilians. Its terrible, just as no one should condone the suicide bombings by the Palestinian extremists.

Do I enjoy seeing the Israelis invading Gaza? No. However I can see why they are doing so. Negotiations have failed, Hamas broke a cease fire and sent rockets across the Israeli border.  

Now I ask you, can you see why the Israelis want to eliminate Hamas? Do you think in your minds that it is at least POSSIBLE that the Israeli objective (while perhaps extreme) is to eliminate Hamas and stop the rockets from crossing the border at Israeli civilians?

I realize that you think they are only trying to massacre Palestinians but isn't it possible to see the Israelis side? See that maybe their objective isn't to slaughter all Palestinians?  

This is the most civil I can be in the debate. I don't want to see innocent Palestinians die, nor do I want to see Israeli civilians die. All I ask is that you have a civil and reasonable response whether you agree or disagree.

I agree with all what you said. I want them to find peace too. Perhaps, sharing the land is just not ever going to be accepted by both cases, and thats why both sides find their way to attacking again. I mean, after WWII, it was just Palestine. So of course there is going to be extremists, but on both sides. I just dislike when you claim that HAMAS are terrorists, while not saying that the Israeli government are terrorists as well. Not everyone from the governments on both sides are terrorists, and indeed on both sides there are terrorists, not just Palestine's Hamas. But I don't think that blowing more people in Palestine, and invading Gaza isn't reaching anything peaceful.

When my friend was in Israel he wasn't living in fear and none of the people he interacted with were either.

its not just because they are "scaring" anyone.
in half of israel the economy cannot function. factories are closed. schools and universities are closed. people have a 15 second heads up to a missile hitting their city. every couple of hours they all run for shelter. kids cant sleep. it is true that when you add up the numbers the murder of 4 civilians doesnt justify over 70 civilians on the palestinian side dying. but what else can you do? over 50 rockets are being fired at the southern part of israel every day. hamas, contrary to xobeautifulgurlox belief, is a terrorist organization and is recognized as so by the US, the European Union, the UK , Australia, Canada and even Jordan.
also the hamas openly calls for the destruction of israel and does not recognize its right to exist.

israel, does not target civilians. i hate this fucking war and personally i dont support entering into gaza with ground forces, but israel does not, and never targeted civilians. schools and mosques that are bombed are only bombed because they have been turned into giant qassam warehouses. also israel would never bomb an inhabited school.

I just observed a map from 1947 to a map in 2005, showing how much land Palestinians once had, and how it was taken by Israel. Israel owns most of the land now. Israel went in and greedily kept taking more and more land from Palestine. Of course thats going to make people very angry. Do I support innocent Israeli's to be killed? No. But I can see and understand why some people are as extreme. Also, you don't just bomb a mosque, thats wrong weather you'd admit it or not. 18 people who weren't associated with Hamas, died in that mosque that Israel bombed. Also, Hamas may be terrorists, I don't know if they are for sure, but why not call the Israeli government terrorists? And you trying to state, that Israel never purposely killed civilians is pretty hypocritical of you. Because of course Israel has killed innocent civilians with full knowledge that they are innocent, and same with the Palestinian side. So just please don't make it seem like Israel is some kind of innocent little victim who wants peace. Thats just not the case, my friend.
