Many people are at an illegal age when they start drinking. Here are some steps and tips to help you stay away from alcohol.

Steps

  1. Say "No" to somebody who tries to persuade you to drink. If someone asks you to take alchohol, say no. If the person who asks you is not a friend, don't talk to them anymore. If it is a friend, try to help them cope and get them to stop. Have them read this article.

  2. Google a damaged liver from alcohol. Read about them and tell yourself "That won't be me."

  3. Educate yourself about alcohol and the effects it has on your body. Look up sites and read books. Talk to your teachers and parents. Know about what alcohol can do to your body and believe that it can happen to you, too.

  4. Remember you have plenty time to enjoy drinking when you are at legal age. You will have the rest of your life to drink after you turn 21. So deal with the more important things now and don't spoil it.

  5. Stay away from kids whose main hobby is drinking. Avoiding a wrong entourage keeps you safe from being influenced by so-called "friends" and from doing things you wouldn't normally do.

  6. Know that getting drunk regularly makes you even more depressed than you are when you're sober. Some people drink because alcohol makes them be more extroverted and get over their inhibitions. They are persons with a low confidence level, therefore they are vulnerable to anything that gets them out of this state of mind. It's not a good idea. Actually, after drinking half a bottle of wine, you start getting sadder instead of getting happier.

  7. Avoid going to parties with people that usually drink. These kind of parties are all about alcohol; they think that the drunker you are, the more fun you will have at the party. Avoid this kind of social gatherings. See the lives of Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears. Look where drinking at parties has got them- their lives are a mess, their career is nearly ruined and their reputation gets worse with each night spent partying.

  8. Know that drunk people have no control over their actions and end up looking ridiculous. Everybody knows them. They lose their balance, talk nonsense, do the silliest things and then fall asleep so deeply they can't remember what they had done a day before. And they continue to live like nothing has happened, when everybody around them knows how ridiculous they are. If you care about your reputation, please do not drink. You don't want to be the one everybody makes fun of at a party. There usually are still some sober people around at any party, who do remember the party the day after. You don't want to end up being the target of their juiciest gossips, do you?

Tips

   * If you like to party be the person who drives the drunk ones home.
   * Everyone is curious at a young age. But just trust the law and wait until you're old enough to drink legally.

Warnings

   * Remember that everything is ok in moderation. Do not go out every weekend and get wasted, but the odd night out with a few friends or party is fine.

Most people who drink, WANT to drink.
Others, the minority, who don't. Don't.

Nah. I like drinking.
If someone doesn't want to drink, simple, just don't.
This isn't going to stop anyone from doing it.

2.  Drinking only damages your liver significantly after years of alcohol abuse.  Not having a few drinks on the weekends.
3.  I am very educated about alcohol and the effects it has on my body, but that doesn't stop me from drinking occasionally.
4.  Yes, becuase once we turn 21 all the effects change.  If someone plans to drink at 21, they aren't going to care about the effects it has now, or then.
5.  Just because someone drinks, and offers you one, does not mean that they are not your friends.  Friends can drink if they want to, if you don't want to drink don't.  It's a personal decision.
6-7.  Not worth talking about
8.  You do still have control when you are drinking.  That is a load of crap.

Boy this guy must be lots of fun.  I guess he does not get invited to any parties.
