some religious practices should not be respected. do you think human sacrifice is acceptable? that we should respect the religious beliefs of people who practice it? there are many religious barbaric practices (like the subjugation of women) still out there. i'm not sure how you can think that they deserve respect.

At least with religions there's the problem of if someone believes a different religion its possible that you might be wrong and they're right and god forbid that's possible.
But yes its not just religion if it for religion it would be something else; be it where your born, what your race is ect
