it used to work... but now it wont.

It was saying it cant authenticate my identity. I found out how to disable that, and did so.

Now... it's saying limited or no connection.

wtf do i do? im getting to the point where im probably gonna break down and cry... i just fucking hate this!

First try unplugging your wireless transmitter for 5 minutes. Plug it back in while your laptop is off, and turn your lap top on.

If you still have not reached connection, check your network log in info: Is it all correct?

If you are using an external/USB wireless adapter, try unplugging it and letting it cool.

Other than that, I guess I just don't know.

Have you've played around with your computer's settings? Restarted your computer?

What have you've done so far? We might be able to eliminate some things or give you more ideas.

Oh... and *hugs* Seems like you need it right now. :)

You need to be a bit more specific.  The "limited or no connectivity" generally means you're not being given an IP address for some reason, but doesn't mean much more than that.  What exactly was the "validating identity" stuff about?

Maybe you need help from your internet provider.  They usually give this toll-free number.  You call for technical support.

it sounds like the dhcp function on your router is fucked up. try setting up a static ip using this. choose your router then pick any random selection from the next list. just set up the static ip. don't forward any ports.

What make and model is the router/AP?

What level of security are you using (WEP, WPA, WPA2 etc)?

Are you using MAC address filtering (something like an access table for the wireless)?

To fix something like this we normally take it back to a basic level. So, remove all security, then introduce them one at a time.

This said, i have had laptops do something like this for no good reason and then come back to life. I find that the Windows XP tool for dealing with wireless networks is a bit broken from time to time. It would probably be better i you used the software that came with your wireless card or laptop. Something like the Intel pro wireless tool for example.

What operating system are you running?

I always try power cycling the modem, then the router. Then see if there is any change, if not, I get a pen and click the little button on the back of my router which resets it to its factory default settings.

Then I test if it works, if it doesn't, then I test if it works through the router when hardwired to it. If it doesn't, then I power cycle one more time and test.

If it still doesn't, as all settings are at default and so the software is not preventing a connection, I look at my setup.

At my parents house for instance, they are running Verizon FIOS. You're "required" to use the little cheap ass d-link router they give you with it, and they refuse customer service if you bypass it. So the connection is, modem to hardwired router, to separate linksys wireless g router. If your setup is like this, make sure you say so, because it can cause all sorts of problems especially surrounding "limited connectivity."
