You need to be a bit more specific. The "limited or no connectivity" generally means you're not being given an IP address for some reason, but doesn't mean much more than that. What exactly was the "validating identity" stuff about?

Maybe you need help from your internet provider. They usually give this toll-free number. You call for technical support.

Have you tried restarting the router?

What operating system are you running? I always try power cycling the modem, then the router. Then see if there is any change, if not, I get a pen and click the little button on the back of my router which resets it to its factory default settings. Then I test if it works, if it doesn't, then I test if it works through the router when hardwired to it. If it doesn't, then I power cycle one more time and test. If it still doesn't, as all settings are at default and so the software is not preventing a connection, I look at my setup. At my parents house for instance, they are running Verizon FIOS. You're "required" to use the little cheap ass d-link router they give you with it, and they refuse customer service if you bypass it. So the connection is, modem to hardwired router, to separate linksys wireless g router. If your setup is like this, make sure you say so, because it can cause all sorts of problems especially surrounding "limited connectivity." Post edited at 3:49 pm on Jan. 8, 2009 by medjai
