she's old enough to realise she can't cling on to something or someone forever. it actually hurt more that my ex was waiting for me to do it (after the way he started acting with me) rather than do it himself when he wanted to.  
you've been together a year and a half so she should realise when something isn't right with you. i say you talk to her because nothing good is going to come out of lying.

okay, but people don't always love/like one another forever or continuously so mayvbe just tell her you don't want to be with her and then explain why you think you don't work. add in some things that annoy her and maybe, although she'll probably deny it, she'll start to realise you're telling the truth and she'll have to let go.
it's unfair on both of you really to carry on just because she's manic depressive etc. you can make her think it's best to break up by speaking to her.
