My uncle, however, is a retired nuclear physicist who worked on top-secret government projects during the Cold War. At one point, he helped with the "Star Wars" missile defense project. And then he did resarch work in and around Silicon Valley, where several of his colleagues went on to win Nobel prizes. Yep.

Yes, my late mother had many amazing connections. But the great thing is, those close to her have kept into contact with me. No names, for reasons of privacy but I feel very privileged.
