my bf who i've had for 1yr and 2 months just decided yesterday that he wants to go to california for welding training in the marines....i dont want him to leave me...i want him to do what he wants with his life but hes gonna be gone for 6 months and thers a 2% chance he has to go overseas....how do i convince him he can get a good welding job here and not have to join the marines...w/o making him hate me cuz i dont want him to leave. we plan on getting married after he gets out of training..but i just dont know...ugghh...so confused..

Sometimes you just have to let it go. Marriage is such a big step in life. And for him to join the Marines, you'll need to be understanding that he's doing it to better himself. Without this step, which is HIS choice, he can never truly see what he is capable of.

It's sad how life has to suddenly be the way it is in this case-scenario, but you have to look at this as if it were a test. To find how far you're willing to go, in order for you two to stay together.

Don't stop him. I tried that when my ex joined the air force, he ended up leavingme. Its been 2 years and we are now back together. Believe me, support him and stay by his side, it'll all work out
