Rule 1 seems silly. If you want to not do drugs that fuck up your body, make a rule about not doing drugs that fuck up your body, not a rule about an arbitrary third element that imperfectly correlates to fucking up your body (pure DMT hasn't been shown to fuck anyone up in the long term at all, whereas things like alcohol can cause long term problems like death and liver failure and death).

I think also a good rule of thumb is to not do drugs when you are in a bad place mentally.

I won't take any drug that doesn't make me think on a higher level than how I think normally. Meaning I really only take psychedelics - I won't even touch E, I very rarely even drink or smoke pot anymore.
I then research it, if I'm considering it. I read everything, from Erowid websites to government drug reports to 60's counter-culture books. If I still want to try it, and it is accessible, I then wait until I feel ready to, and then I take it.

However, I really don't think there's any steadfast, universal rules for taking drugs. Every person is different, and to me the 'only take drugs you can drink' rule is ludicrous.
