I have windows vista 32 bit. And so i'm been noticing these annoying COM Surrogate errors popping up at the bottom of my screen frequently and i didn't notice any changes to my computer except when i tried playing my video files which did not work at all. That error must be interfereing with my videos. Oh and also i sometimes do get DEP error sometimes too with the COM Surrogate error.
Any help on fixing this please?

another one just popped up and it said that Data Execution Prevention (which is a security feature on vista that can help prevent damage to my computer) has closed down COM Surrogate

If it's video related, is there any chance you're using DivX? If you are try updating to the latest version which is version 7 http://www.divx.com/
Just make sure you have all the latest codecs for playing video and audio.

The COM surrogate and Rundll32 errors would not effect the video in anyway. If you are not able to play any media files like .mp3 and .mpg. I suggest you try using a different media player, uninstall whichever media player you are using right now, download something like Winamp or Itunes, either of these media players should run fine on vista.
