Yes it can harm the baby greatly. It can be born with problems, or she could misscarry.

this, If she really wants the baby, she should start eating healthier.

That can increase the likelihood of a miscarriage for sure. Even if the baby did somehow survive, it would be EXTREAMLY unhealthy. What the mother eats is the only source of food for the baby..so barley eating for 9 months is like starving a baby for 9 months.

i tried telling her but she told me that nothing would happen to her baby and the worst that can happen is it comes into the world a little underweight.

I would think it will damage her as well, seeing as what little food she does eat is being shared?
If I were you, I'd somehow get her to look at some of those leaflets/websites that are deliberately made to scare people into eating... Either that or anonymously arrange for someone to visit her just to let her know there are people who can help.

They can both be severly damaged

Dont really understand how she could get pregnant if she's anorexic anyway tbh. Are you sure she isn't just trying to get attention?
But yet, she'll get a miscarriage eventually. Which I wouldn't really call it a shame.. if there's pregnant women out there who don't treat their body's right while being pregnant, the potential baby is best left unborn.
