I think it's because there's less going on and by that time you've had all day to focus on everything else and you're bored with it, so all of the random/creative stuff comes out.

I always used to feel like drawing and painting at night when i was a bit younger, like 6-12 age, then i sort of got mentally ill and a bit haywire lol
