This topic is a orgy of racism and hate. I am here to save you all from Satan's grasp with these words:

My Tempo is still running like-new after two years no 6-year old oil. So much for Kyle's hypothesis that I was doomed for not doing that change soon enough. Fuckin' moron.

Actuallly leaving 6 year old oil in your car will not effect the way it runs... it will just stop working one day because of all the metals shards tearing up the internal engine. So in a way, its quite important to change oil.

One day. Sure thing. What, 4,000 miles later and nothing. Zip. Still a lot more reliable then any Chevy I've known.  One day I am sure it will stop working. Maybe at the million mile mark or something. Then? I will just fix it.

Edit: Remember, this is a Tempo we are talking about. Supposedly very unreliable, weak, not very durable cars. Well its survived Alaska and started at -23*F when the Cheyenne, my friend's Malibu, and my cousin's F-150 would not. Consider this cars history. It sat in the open for six years. Then one day I come along, charge the battery up a little bit, then turn the key. It starts in less then ten seconds  even with gasoline, oil, radiator fluid, a battery, and all other fluids over six years old. Its started and run ever since. One time it didn't, but the circumstances were extreme and the car was not at fault.

So much for Tempos being unreliable. How is all this possible from a pos car? Its called quality. Something seriously lacking in modern cars.

Nope. It wouldn't have, if its the same Impala as my aunt's two. Her '06 started though. In fact, the two older Impalas are still dead as dirt in her driveway. Supposedly the '06 had to have heat blasted at it then jump started to my uncle's F-150.

So, no, Eric. Fail.

you do not know that.

do not base everything on what has happened to your family. not everyones experiences are the same.

FYI, When it was -14 here a few weeks back, the car started completely fine. Just an FYI.

Its not just that. Its that the 4L60-E (same transmission in Eric's Impala and your old Commodore) went out on our Silverado at 83,000 miles. This truck mind you has had immaculate maintenance, has never had more then 600lbs. in the bed, never went over 70MPH, and it has never towed a trailer in its entire existence. In that respect Ford was making a more durable, reliable compact car in 1989 then Chevrolet is making now in trucks.

Then you've got the fact that of the three Chevrolet vehicles my family has owned in the past five years have run us over $2,000 in unexpected repairs. The two Fords and two Dodges have cost us under $500 in repairs.

I recall a time when people were so sure my Tempo was going to die as soon as it hit the road, having run on old oil and fluids. Well, 4k later and nothin. People were 100% sure I had a blown gasket. Nothing. Everyone figured I'd never get it back to above-average condition. Wrong again.

From this we can conclude, you guys know jack shit about Tempos.

Notice how you said we dont know jack shit about tempos?

If I recall, you own 1 Tempo, thus what you just said applys to only 1 tempo and thus gives me the impression that you think 1 case applys to all.

Fair enough, but I don't plan on this one being the last. I've got my eye on this beat-to-hell '90 GL Sedan. No options, many busted parts, plenty of dents, automatic, and its got 190,000 miles on the clock. Its in this incredibly ugly color. Spencer's least favorite color and he is a Tempo enthusiast. I will try and get this car though. Even if it means giving up on the MG Midget deal. I just can't pass it up, and all it needs to be a fantastic car is some TLC.
