Well, long story behind this but I need to know what the fuck 'uploading to your ISP' is. I know nothing about it. I don't know if it's possible. I just want to know what happens [if you even can] upload files to an ISP.

I sound like an idiot because I have no idea what I'm talking about. Just try to explain this to me please?

ISP = Internet Service provider.

So when you upload files to that, what exactly happens? I mean where are the files/who are they available to?

They're stored.

Your question doesn't make any sense.

Your ISP is the middleman between your computer and the Internet. You do not usually give things to the middleman unless you want him to pass them on.

You very likely cannot upload just to your ISP.

I don't know anything about it, that's just what I was told. That by uploading files to an ISP you could send those files to people within a certain area. I probably sound fucking ridiculous, but I'm just trying to figure out if someone's bullshitting me or if it's possible to do what they say they are going to.

If they worded it like that, they don't know what they're talking about. It's possible s/he meant that they were going to make the files available to an intranet (a small network of computers in the same building).

Some ISPs give their users some free webspace to use for personal reasons.  My parents have some with Comcast and host family photos on it and stuff like that.

If your ISP has webspace you most likely have to sign in through their website.  Unless they have instructions for ftp services or something like that.

From the sound of it, The person who was telling you this was using the wrong words..  As said. ISP is just a middle man. and can not store files its self. It is just in a since... A series of tubes that connects you. To servers all over the world, aka the Internet.

Maybe they meant like, Uploading files to places like fileshack.com or other websites that allow you to upload files and store them or send links for friends to download the files you uploaded.
