What's the F key used to send the computer into safe mode?

To get into the Windows 2000 / XP Safe mode, as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" as shown below. Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.

From google:
"start pressing the F8 key; On the Startup Menu, choose Safe Mode." I think it means to start pressing it when it's booting up.

Insert Windows installation disc and try to repair the installation from the recovery console.
