Stories like these are insane. Just some old dude happened to die and have a old car worth $4.3 million in his garage.

  I know!

Makes me think, if I lock up something nice, say a corvette.. and leave it in my garage till I'm 80 odd, how much will it be worth?

heh.. not such a bad idea...

I was thinking the same thing with my average '89 Ford Tempo. Thing is, both Corvette and Tempo sold in huge numbers where as there were only 17 Bugatti Type 57S made. Still though, you have to imagine that any current car will be worth a decent sum of money in the next 70-100 years.

How many different types of cars do you know that produced really low numbers of cars?

Subaru made an impreza, they only made 320 of them.. the subaru RB 320 right?

A lot of cars are available in low-production trim levels or packages, but that just adds exclusivity. I figure it will be cars like the Southern 358, Ford GT, Ford Thunderbird, cars that sold in incredibly low numbers (under 1,000) for only a few years. The is the Roush BlackJack Mustang that is only being produced to a level of 100 cars, but that car is only an aftermarket version of a stock model that sells hundreds of thousands a year.

LOL build an underground car park, store about 10 rare cars in there, and by time your dead you'll have made enough money to set your kids, and their kids up for life!

Sorry, but people aren't gonna pay shit for a Tempo.

you would be better off investing the money than buying a car and letting it sit

No there not, its getting auctioned off for $4.5 mill or more.

But only 17 were ever made, and when it's cleaned up and auctioned in Paris next month, experts believe it will fetch at least 3 million pounds ($4.3 million) and possibly much more.
