I'm having a very hard time in college right now. I'm a VERY busy Business Law major at my university, and the workload is significant. I partied a lot in high school and in my first year at college but lately I've realized it's time for me to focus on school / saving money and focusing on the future. The problem is none of my friends are at this stage, ie they're all still getting blackout drunk 3-4 times a week, and needless to say they are a bit upset about my "growing up" phase. Simply put, I am done and over with drinking and partying, I want to succeed, I want to find a significant other, and move away from this party phase of life. I am slowly getting further and further apart from all of my friends because I've stopped drinking / smoking etc. Should I just move on and try to meet like-minded individuals?

Find other friends, but keep in touch with your current friends too. Maybe go out with them just once in a while, and talk to them.

Time to move on with your life, but don't forget your friends.

move on. Haven't you heard-high school friends aren't BFF's. Its heart breaking-but if you don't move on then you'll feel like your leaving your dreams behind instead. Its not fun hanging out with people who have different aspirations in life, its a drag. Its depressing actually.

Congratulations.......you have come to your senses before its too late.  You only have one shot at it and I think you are prudent to come to this conclusion.

I made a deal with my Mom and Dad.  They agreed to fund my med school as long as I took it seriously, made passing grades and grew up.  At $45,000 a year I thought that was a fair offer.  I set my limits to two beers or one glass of wine at parties and have stuck with it for four years.  Right now I have a 3.95 average and never felt better about myself.  I have counted 37 that entered school along with me that are no longer here because of drinking, partying and drugging.  Glad I am not one of them.

My suggestion would be to stay in the library until they longer miss you.  Find new friends.  Good luck
