Miraculously, Major also survived the death camps. Manya and Major found one another in Poland. They had survived a combined 13 death camps. Miraculously, Manya's brother also survived the death camps.

No I don't believe that ALL Germans did this. I believe the top brass of Nazis did sure.
This does not really change the definition of "nazi". Sure there are party members who were just forced to join simply to survive. Sure there simple soldiers who just had to obey orders. Sure there simple ppl who simply wanted their country to improve.
The problem you see is
1. You can't really improve your country at the expense and the life of others. If in trying to make your ppl survive you are ready to sacrifice your decency and your humanity and close your eyes to the bad things around you then you are really dooming your people.
2. Segregation can seem like a good solution apparently and often ends up in atrcoties, injustice and inhumanity. When a group of ppl is herded out of sight and out of mind then ANYTHING can be done to them. Anything can happen to them// We are responsible for each other.
We are all part of humanity and if we try to sacrifice some in the name of saving others we are eally dooming the humanity in ourselves
3. Even the best kindest nicest people can be led to do the wrong thing in the name of the right reason. When you give caring for other people you are going down the short path to inhumanity.

So maybe the Jews should have just left instead of starting a war that cost millions and millions of deaths.
