You feel alone because some people had the heart to take you out of a shitty household and into one where they care about you?

It could be worse. You could have had 15 years of abuse.

They brought you up. Loved you. Took care of you. What difference does it make if they aren't your biological parents, they are your parents!

Why is it such a big deal? They took you in, fed you, clothed you, loved you, what else could you possibly want? What's the difference if you share their genes or not?

I know it was probably a huge shock to you but they kept it a secret for a reason, probably until they felt you were mature enough to handle it and understand it. Don't let this bring your depression back, just think of how much they must love you and they have probably provided you with a better life then you probably would have had. At least you don't have to worry about being abused. Be grateful and think of the positive, even though they aren't your biological parents they are still the ones who have raised you and loved you for 15 years. =] I hope you feel better though, I know it's probably hard for you.

It's hard to hear something that big about your family, something that you had no idea about for that long. It's a huge shock, suddenly having everything in your life turned around, what you believed to be true being untrue. It's like waking up and realizing that you've been living in the Matrix. Feeling upset is normal right now. It'll take some getting used to to work this out. Just remember: Your parents are still your parents. They do still love you. You aren't their flesh and blood, but you're still THEIRS. Their child. They've taken you in, loved you, and while they didn't concieve you, that doesn't make you any less of their child. The reason they didn't want to tell you was that they didn't want to hurt you by having you hear about your past. It was what they thought was the right thing to do. Suicide, cutting, it won't help. Why would you want to hurt yourself when you were taken away from a place that hurt you? You did nothing wrong, you have no reason to be upset with yourself, or your life. Would you have wanted to do this had you not heard about this from your parents? Would you have felt like this? Nothing's changed, besides you knowing. You aren't any less of a person. Some advice that somebody gave me once was to think of a line to repeat to yourself when you feel sad--It can be a line from a song, from a book, from a play. Repeat it to yourself to remind your mind to focus on something else besides your sadness. It also can remind you that you don't want to hurt yourself. Another thing to do is snap a rubberband on your wrist when you have suicidal urges. And talk to your parents about how you feel. They will understand. PM me if you need anything at all. x Post edited at 7:10 am on Nov. 30, 2008 by noraa
