alright im getting some stuff done on my shoulder dec 31 but i was just wondering what kind of painkillers they give you, for how long, whether it actually gets rid of the pain, etc

It depends on what the anaesthetist decides, and the exact type of the surgery, whether it is small key-hole or something more invasive (which would probably require something stronger - more pain). Plus it varies by country so what they use over here might not be the standard over there. Perhaps hydrocodone, or something similar like hydromorphone (though that seems quite strong for your type of surgery).

Again the length of the prescription depends on your surgery and how much residual pain you feel afterwards. As for getting rid of the pain, it should work, though if you're having problems you can always talk to your doctor and get it changed for something else.

It's best to talk to your doctor about things like these. No two surgeries go exactly the same and they'll be able to fill you in on the particulars and exactly what course of action they'll take.

They will give what ever painkiller they see fit to give you and how much pain you are in at the time. It also depends on what kind of Surgery you have and how long it will take for you to recover.
And whatever painkillers they give you it's not gunnah be Cocaine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And yes if you have to have painkilers then they will give you ones that are strong enough to stop the pain

I had a shoulder arthroscopy done on October 17th. They gave me some Vicodin and sent me on my way.
