[Photoshop] Color is altered after export

Hi all -  
I have an image k, that I modified with photoshop. when i go to "Save for Web and Devices..." under the File... i get a preview for the various file types of export. and when i choose JPG (Highest) or PNG 24, the color is altered enough to where i lose the effect i want.  What am i doing wrong and or what do i do? the attached image has the original picture in PSD form, and the max quality JPG form on the right. notice the color of the red splotch gains an orange tint to it...

don't use what? JPG or PNG? what file type do i export it to then if I want to use it as a desktop background or something?
