Yeah because the parents have their child's best interests in heart. They will actually research about it (hopefully) and do whatever they feel is right. But the government will always see things as black and white. That is not good. We shouldn't allow the government to be able to do anything with our bodies without our consent.

If this is true, why are African governments, the United Nations, the World Health Org, the USA, and so many others spending billions to circumcise African males?
Perhaps because in remote areas of the continent, condoms aren't so easy to come by, and circumcision is just one thing they can do to help. But....In industrialized nations, there's no excuse for not using a condom if you're not in a monogamous relationship where both partners have been tested for HIV/STIs. Condoms are cheap and readily available, so there's no need for the government to require that parents have their children mutilated.

The title of this thread is hilarious. There are no proven, solid points to the argument. What a joke.

This makes no sense. Condoms are available in africa just like everywhere. Yet African govts are on a massive circumcise-everybody campaign.

Find some compelling evidence saying why it is better and I might consider sharing my opinion.

The relatively minor health benefits circumcised males are not worth starting a national scheme for, especially when you consider the rate of surgical complications.
------- Massive, epic adventure, multi-coloured, multi-layered. Sort of two/three dimensional Wizard of Oz for the future.
