The brain is very complex, stop oversimplifying it.

Mind over matter only takes you so far, the most successful people in life know this, and they do know there are limits set on a material level. To be perfectly honest, I don't believe you or wallop have ever experienced true depression. Could you have both had some hard times? Sure. But depression is an ongoing mental ailment that more often then not does require medical treatment, not simply "wishing it away." There are certain things you can't just stop with happy thoughts. You can't wish your body to make correctly formed cells when you have sickle cell anemia. You can't wish your body to stop creating tumors when you have cancer. Your mind can't do everything, and depression is just as material as cancer and sickle cell anemia.
Fuck you you worthless little shit. I have experienced depression, and probably on a higher level than you. So suck my balls, faggot.
careful now, positive thinking right? How will you ever indoctrinate anyone with that tone of language?

Very mature and composed. I could definetely see you having suffered from depression. Especially coupled with your constant sexist comments I always find on posts about relationships.

Again... you "believe" that its not that simple. This is what I "believe" "You are in control of your own thoughts, you can only believe what you choose to believe, I believe that I am positive, and I will never believe in negativity" And before you give me that "everybody is different" treatment. If everybody thought the same way, then everybody would feel the same way. I'm not saying everybody should feel the same way, I am simply stating a point. If you "believe" you are positive, then thats exactly how you'll feel. Theres no "ifs" or "buts" about it. You have to "believe" it, to see it.

I don't think you're using much logic here. You're saying that by using your mind you can change something you yourself admit is influenced by brain chemistry. Brain chemistry is not reliant upon your thoughts, it's a biological thing. Of course I believe a human being's mind is more powerful than the concept of a god... I think we can convince ourselves of many things but the fact remains that just by "willing" something you're not going to change something you admit to be biological.
People that arent in control of there own minds, are people that "believe" they are not. How can you have depression, if you don't "believe" its actually there? How can you feel sad, if you don't "believe" that you do? How can you feel happy, if you don't "believe" that you do?
Why don't you get it? You control your mind, not how it functions. If somethings wrong with the machinery you don't just ignore it by 'believing' it's not there.
That's because "other" machinery, runs by itself, and malfunctions by itself, it also doesnt think for itself. Your machinery on the other hand (aka your brain) does think for itself, because thats "who you are" Life is what you make of it. If you want to live on the belief that the "glass is half empty".... then thats exactly how you'll feel, "empty"

Attention everyone! You can now stop cancer just by thinking it doesn't exist! It really works! Mr Positive said if you don't acknowledge things your body does then they won't happen!
No, you can't "stop" cancer, but positive thinking will decrease your chances of getting it. It's mainly negative people that you find in hospital beds, and not just for cancer, but for many other reasons (alot of them mental)
Alright kid, your original post wasn't spot on, but it was close. Now stop saying retarded shit that makes you harder to back up.
It's a fact, even check it up yourself. Negative people die younger, and that is a researched fact.

I don't believe that the glass is half empty. I'm talking about science... that thing you seem to forget. I'm talking about the BRAIN - the vital organ in your head. Your MIND (the part you CAN control) operates out of your head. If there is a chemical imbalance in a part of your 'head organ' that you can't control with your mind then what will you do? Positive thinking will help, but it can't fix your organ. No more than it can fix pancreatic cancer or lung cancer. Stop running away from science.

Nobody thinks positively all the time. But doing so the same amount as people without depression can help those with depression stop being depressed all the time. Of course, it might also need medicating depending on the degree on which the depression is being experienced.
