I agree too. All I want are equal rights though and the only way through that is marriage. Civil Unions and Domestic partnerships do not grant that so I can see where he is coming form. But shoving it down people's throats like that is abusing society. It is already seen by a lot of people that bashing on gays is wrong, so why use it for something that is not really homophobia. I have friends who, although I believe are wrong, believe that gay people should not get married. But we are still friends.

Don't call it gay rights. I hate that word. I like equal rights better. They don't understand the legal standing though, all they know is the religious part of marriage (which, I think is fine. I hate religion why would I want to be married under it?). So I try to show them that their are legal benefits behind marriage too but it is too much a moral issue for them. Although one of my friends recently surprised me (one who is generally against gay relationships) by saying she was wrong and then even joined our schools gay club. But it was a pleasant surprise :)
