How do you know....
if there is a virus in an email??

I just opened an email and it had wiered letters in it and stuff, but I dont know if it is a virus or not?  how would you know?

is it 1 that had an oddly spelled offer to give u a larger penis despite what gender u may b? i get so many of those crappy ones. i never open stuff like that.
i think that often if emails have attatchments, they can contain viruses. i am not sure.

run a virus scan every week...

that'll solve the problem. Basically, don't open mails from people you don't know...Especially those XXX ones...Tempting but don't...

run a virus and anti-spyware check. You should be clean if there was a virus. Oh and one more thing, don't forget to update your anti-spyware/antivirus programs.

It's probably HTML code, which isn't displaying correctly in the e-mail. As mentioned already, viruses tend to come in the form of attachments, and generally will open load themselves if you go to open attachments (which is why they say you should never open attachments if you don't know what they are). Other than that, it could be badly typed spam mail or mail typed in a different type of font (called character set) and your PC doesn't have the correct "language pack" to display it.

I'd doubt very much it's a virus though.
