I understand it's not legal to cheat, but my question is, is it legal to help someone else cheat?

Morals/blahblahblah aside, I just want the facts.

you won't be prosecuted in a court of law for cheating on a test

You will be penalized in school.

Actually, it is illegal. That doesn't mean you get arrested, but it does mean your school can expel you.

that has nothing to do with legality

That means it is against the school's rules and they can punish you for it.

like, not eating your vegetables isn't illegal, but your parents can still send you to your room for it

That's what I am saying, legally your school can do so, because it is not legal to plagiarize.

MY QUESTION IS, is it illegal to get paid to do other peoples work.

Plagiarism isn't legal, why doesn't anyone get that?

The laws are there so the school can get you in trouble without you being able to take action against them.

okay, so listen

Legally your school can do a lot to you. Not because your infractions are illegal, but because there is no law against them doing whatever the fuck they want to you.

In the real world, it is illegal to steal someone else's work. If you are paid to write something and as part of the agreement you give someone else total rights to it and say they can claim to be the author, it isn't illegal. Immoral, maybe, but that's it.

school will still stomp both people's asses for it, of course

technically thats true but the worst that could happen is a lawsuit. not likely unless you're ripping someone famous off in a big way, but its not completely unheard of. under some circumstances you could get nailed for other things if you are selling exam answers and shit like that but its unlikely.

all you really have to worry about is getting kicked out of school for it, which does happen alot more often than you might think.
