LiveWire has set aside one forum exclusively for intellectuals, that is to say, people who desire an atmosphere in which rich grammatically correct sentences teeming with cogent well reasoned arguments abound.

This test, however inaccurate one might argue it to be, serves as the gatekeeper to the forum and a deterent to those who might otherwise try to reply to a facinating debate with such a lucid respons as, "Yeah... didn't read what you said. Could you make that a little shorter?"

What makes the Intellectual Forum different?

- Postings are made only by members who have passed the Intellectual Test
- Posts are subject to a minimum length requirement

Dictionary.com provided half my general knowledge answers. But the grammar parts of the test were fun. You could borrow some questions from the tickle IQ test

Yeah, I'm in. That just goes to show how easy the test must be to pass.

Well this is a very interesting idea!

I'm surprised that I passed.

This should be good...

Awesome idea, David.  Just what LiveWire needs.

What is the minimum length requirement for the posts?  Like, a few characters, or do our posts have to be fairly wordy?

I didn't have to look up any, just a few grammar guesses.

Maybe this forum will be devoid of random pregnant 13 year old girls.

Well, considering their have been posts already here that are maybe a sentence long at best, I'd say the minimum requirement isn't too outrageous.

Yeah, I'm in!    I have to admit I had to look up one of the word definitions, but otherwise I didn't cheat.

I had to look up a few, just to be doubly sure I had the right answers.

And it appears that one line posts are not long enough. I am not sure that having a spatial question (the one regarding matching a puzzle piece with another) is such a good idea, some people might find it really easy, but other people might not, and the ability to do that probably doesnt contribute much to the way they post replies.

Perhaps a test that is not as passable?  Or questions that are not as 'accessible.'  I'm betting wikipedia.org, google, dictionary.com, or encarta.com can provide all of the answers.

However (in this forum), members will adjust accordingly and allow themselves a more protracted 'appraisal' time in hopes of a more academic post.  Such has my blessing and sanction.

Finally.

The test is too easy...anyone can just look up the answers. They should make it timed or something...

What is this?

As a certified LiveWire Intellectual you are indubitably capable of composing a more verbose post!

Being intellectual does not mean being a stickler for grammar.

Albiet, this could be useful, it may become a serious pain in the ass.

I think the terms / vocabulary section of the test ought to be taken out.  It's far too easy to just simply put the word in an online dictionary.

Yay I passed too!    But I wanted to know how many I got right not just that I passed.    I guess we're not supposed to compare which of us is the most intellectual.

Anybody know the minimum you have to get to pass is?

Also some of the questions really could have had more than one correct answer.
