I personally pride myself in the way I eat, I've always eaten healthily and I've always cooked myself good food.  But its a whole lot different when you're trying to lose weight.  For example, while its ok to eat junk food as well as healthy food as part of a balanced diet, there's a risk that you'll gain weight.

I have been losing weight very gradually for the past 3 weeks (something like 3 pounds) and I think thats the way to go.  If I lost it any quicker, it would be unhealthy and I'd gain it all back again.

Here's how I eat:

For 80% of the time I eat extremely 'healthy' stuff:

this means vegetables, pulses, nuts, wheat bread, low fat milk and some meat (mainly chicken, tuna, turkey and lean bacon).  I drink plenty of water, fennel tea (which is good for the digestive system), real fruit juice (if you drink it 3 times a week, you reduce your risk of cancer considerably, I've head), for snacks I eat fruits, nuts and low-fat fruit yoghurt.

For 20% of the time, I eat things I wouldn't normally eat (ie if I'm forced to at a restaurant or when I go out with people to dinner or when I have carbohydrate cravings during PMS)...

this includes things like 5 chocloate-chip cookies, a cherry cheesecake, a big meal at a restaurant or chinese/indian/mexican food.

I never have McDonald's food, burgers, greasy big pizzas (only real Italian ones for me), chips, french fries, dohnuts, muffins or anything like that because I've been eating so healthily that I don't crave them anymore.  And these are the things that get you fat the quickest, so I'm really pleased with myself.

The way I know if I'm full is, I judge it on a scale of 1-10, 1 being starving and 10 being completely full (to the point of not being able to move). And I try to be 6 on that scale (sometimes 7 when I'm eating with other people).

But the most important thing for me is how much I eat for each meal and how many times a day.  I try to eat a lot for breakfast, and try to have a big lunch too, and then for dinner, I try to eat less.  Eating a lot in the evening or at night is the worst thing you can do because your body is in relaxed mode and you can't digest it as quickly as during the daytime.

Oh, and I try to eat 3 times a day.

I notice that after a session in the gym or in aerobics, I get so hungry I could eat a horse (metaphorically, lol), so I try to have a big but healthy meal after exercise.

I'm happy with my progress.  And I want to eat like this for the rest of my life, I hope I don't resort back to overeating.

Also, if you feel hungry.

Don't rush to the cuboard for chocolate, get some bread and jam, it fills you up.

lol, how is that any better?

I find that Bananas are probably one of the best snacks to have when you're very hungry. They fill you up fast and give you a quick rush of energy.
