Hello, I have a question about recieving a A+ Certifcation for hunting after a good computer job. Do I have to go to a accredit college that teaches you it, or if you know basically everything you need to be A+ Cerrtified just go and take a test and past it? Please help.
Not to sure on what to do. I have GED since 2004 and just want to advanced into getting a good computer techie job.
Thanks
Shawn

First of all, just a GED (which looks even worse than just a HS dipolma on a resume) isn't gonna help much.
And this isn't 1999-2000; just an A+ cert alone won't get you crap. Sorry kid. Everyone in and his brother has computer Certs. I know a few people with Masters in Com Sci and Comp Enginering that can't get jobs.

Certs aren't gonna do it these days. Sorry kid. Someone told you wrong. College is really needed these days for most things unless you are a fucking genius, have rich parents, massive connections and are lucky as hell.

I dunno dude. I do hiring currently and sometimes hire IT people. Associates degrees even don't cut it. You really need a Bachelor's degree to even START being competitive in the work environment and economy today. Who set you to have such low expectations when dealing with schooling?
Also seriously, anything that seems like a 'shortcut' like going to an online only school, or your GED is gonna make you look a lot worse to an employer. I'd put a resume with an Associates from UPO in the trash. A kid with a degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science from say MIT or Northeastern would shine to me. And if they had a Masters, even better.
