The year is 2008. It is a dark and stormy night. The wind howls through the trees while your dwellings are battered by rain. While you are sleeping, I am being killed. In my final moments I saw a group of people standing over me silently. Blood trickled down my forehead and into my eyes, preventing me from identifying the perpetrators of this heinous crime.

You have gathered here in the Town Hall on the morning after the fact.

I am Thriftweed, the host of this game and late leader of this town. Your purpose here today is to avenge my death. I expect you to be vigilant in your search for those responsible and brutal in your manner of punishment.

Those of you who call yourself 'Mafia'--prepare to die.

It is currently Day 1

With 18 alive, it takes 9 to lynch.

Night actors, PM me your actions at any time. You may change your targets whenever you'd like.

i'm writing a book, are any of your dads the heads of a publishing house?

I feel like we would have been more successful last game had we gone with my nolynch option, and that ultimately no one gained anything by "analyzing votes" considering we failed to successfully vote even one mafia successfully.

That said, I also learned quite clearly that opposition to this idea doesn't imply that you are mafia, so I'll be making no such claims and won't be attempting to muscle my fellow townies into this option. I'll start by saying I still support nolynch night one, but as i said in the other game, i'd do things differently. We shouldn't reveal the cop unless forced to do so.

I can't post as often right now because I'm working on a website and it's very time consuming, but I will still probably be close to as active as last time.

I agree with Medjai. W0lf was clearly an innocent last time day1 and seemed to be voted off for not playing more so than anything else. Everyone's panic seemed to electrify the vote, and panicking makes for bad lynching.

As helpful as it would be to nail a Mafia in day1 the odds are slim.

Id rather hold a vote, killing neither mafia or innocent than to kill an innocent and end a day short.

## I vote no lynch

Unless someone well and truly fucks themselves up. Or i change my mind. Sleep deprivation and shit.

I gotta leave my sis to school but ill be back online in a few hours.

I'm a little new to this and not too comfortable about making a decision yet. I'm going to let this play out a little more.

Not knowing all the roles adds suspense too so we'll just have to see how it goes..

I just want to say something about nolynch

I know it's been discussed a lot in the previous Mafia, so I want to keep this short, but I've got to say it one last time:

NO LYNCH
Good: No innocent death
Bad: No opinions, nothing to work with, giving Mafia a headstart on Night 1.

LYNCH
Good: See voting patterns and opinions
Bad: Likely innocent death, possible mafia death

By lynching someone, we are trading a likely innocent death for opinions and patterns, which I believe is valuable information. 1 innocent so early in the game doesn't swing the vote much either way.

(I would be happy to die for this purpose if innocents happen to lynch me for any reason, but obviously volunteering my life doesn't work because real choices are required in order to see patterns in how people vote.)

By not lynching, we gain nothing but we are off to a late start as the mafia kill 1 person at night. We can't afford a late start. 1 day lost is worse than 1 innocent lost.

In any case, we can reach the same outcome by DIFFUSING VOTES. That is, by spreading the votes out so that no one is lynched. That is more telling than nolynch. But less telling than regular, intuitive/random lynching.

That's all I'm gonna say on this cos i'm really tired of this debate. I hope enough innocents get the purpose.

Day 1 votecount

Tell Me Again (1): Tell Me Again
Audrey820 (1): JonasBrothersFan1996
No-lynch (1): KeiraOasis

** A note about no-lynch, listen carefully because I only want to say this once. If no-lynch receives 9 votes, the day will be over. I will not interfere with the wishes of the town. If a majority of you are convinced that George W. Bush would make a good president no-lynch is the best option, then it is a no-lynch you shall have.

and bearsy its because i would refuse to work with any publisher who puts a woman in charge

Catacomb, I'm innocent and if you are too, I beg you, beg you to not be antagonistic and turn innocents against the innocents' cause. And you're smart and all so let's not roadblock that again.

If you're not an innocent then uh, keep at it

OMG i need to get off this topic and stop spamming.

Oh nah you're not. I was just saying that if you were a bit antagonistic, people will be less willing to listen to you, and more likely to take offense. Their judgment will also be clouded even if you present good arguments. Being distracted from logically playing the game is a deterrent to the innocents' cause (ie to lynch the mafia). They're not being turned against each other.

So basically I'm saying that you have good judgment but don't be mean and repel people off.
