i was put on nicotine patches while i was in a hospital ward recently. they definitely help the physical craving. and you should try lozenges, chewing gum, perhaps an inhaler to simulate the action.

I've smoked a pack a day for 3 years, and I've quit 3 times to no avail. However, I've had to quit smoking pot for probation, and since then, I haven't had cravings for cigarettes at all. I think it may have something to do with changing other habitual aspects of your life. Either way, it's been 4 days and I've actually lit a cigarette for this chick that was in the pool without craving one. They taste suckass now. The virtue is, try to change more than just the one aspect in your life (smoking), and the thing that I've fallen back on if I DO feel like smoking one is just thinking about how weak I am when I smoke. I'll beg someone for a smoke if I'm drunk. Also, I tell myself that if I don't quit now, I'll never quit. Drinking cessation while you're getting cravings helps a LOT, too, if you drink.

That sucks, I can't quit smoking weed. It's the only thing that keeps me sane.

Tell me about it. I smoked a bit when I first begin probation, but my PO knew (she checked levels from my urine, somehow), and she threatened to send me to jail for 6 months if I didn't tell her the truth about the last time I smoked, and now I'm tested weekly.

I never got started on cigarettes. A choice I'm apparently better-off for. At the same time, I've gotten a little (but not much) shit about smoking weed but not cigarettes, and I know a lot of people who love to smoke menthols when they're high. I tried menthols when high a few times, and while it did intensify my high, I don't consider that little perk worth it. Weed is habit-forming. Cigs are addictive. Menthols, especially. I don't have the time or money to be addicted to anything. And now with these new tobacco taxes? Please. It's gone from 75 cents for a cigarillo to 1$ in like a month. A box of cigarillos is now ~$5, and I usually get a quart/oz at a time, making my total spending $30 for however long I want to make that last (usually like a week, how I get paid). Where-as the price of cigarettes is now equally outrageous, it would have been ~$35 if I smoked, and from what I've witnessed my friends doing, I'd be done with the cigs long before the cigarillos. And then the cravings would probably cause me to go spend another $5. So that's $10 I could easily have off of a quarter for the next week. I will definitely take the quarter over cigs.
