Hm, no anti-druggies to argue?
Why would anyone argue with that article
Exactly, why would anyone. You post a heart felt article and all of a sudden the usual hateful, ignorant, and stubborn anti-drug users have nothing to argue with...because there is nothing to argue here, weed cookie or highly addictive gov't made painkillers, which one sounds worse? I don't understand why it takes this article to get that through peoples heads. Post edited at 11:44 pm on July 1, 2009 by Acustico23

I get the impression that most of the people I've seen argue against drugs on here aren't very likely to read an article condoning or reasoning them. Hell, it seems they rarely review their own arguments before posting them. Post edited at 12:35 am on July 2, 2009 by Audioblood

Wow, she deserves to go to prison for endangering the welfare of a child. There are other legal alternatives such as fetanyl and oxycodone that would not put the child at risk of further brain damage and possible addictive behavior with drugs in the future

Risperdal is not a painkiller or addictive. I don't think that article was really much of a "wow" kinda success story. I mean yeah he's sedated, big deal. That isn't any kind of miracle and marijuana isn't risk-free. I'm not anti-drug I'm just against this attitude that because the risks of weed have been exaggerated etc. it is risk free altogether. It annoys me when people act like it's a fucking wonder drug.. wait no, wonder plant right? 'cause it's not a drug, just like opium and coca aren't drugs. Like most drugs it's got pro's and con's. People can react badly. Using it too much can have negative implications. I would probably put my kid on Risperdal if I was in the author's position. I mean there are negatives of both but the thing I'd be thinking about would be whether I want to alter the kids perception with weed or risk side effects like tics and tremor in the long-run with Risperdal. I've taken a drug similar to Risperdal (Zyprexa) and I was a bit sleepy, lazy and hungry but felt pretty normal. It isn't intoxicating, you can't have a bad trip. It doesn't alter your perception unless you're psychotic in which case it would make your perception more normal if anything.

Poker... I'm not attacking you in any way right now, so don't take it that way. However, it is absolutely crazy to me that you, as someone who has clearly demonstrated their ecstacy use, and meth use, can come in here and honestly say that using marijuana is not the right alternative. You honestly believe that the side effects marijuana would have on this boy are more than that of Risperdal? Tics and tremors alone make weed the right alternative. Weed isn't a miracle drug by any means, but it is also virtually harmless, especially when eaten. But the point is, the other medication wasn't working for him, and that weed cookie worked. So, the point here isn't whether or not he should use a legal medication, its that he should be allowed to eat that weed cookie if its what makes him feel right. The point is that for medical purposes, no one should be looked down upon or hindered to use marijuana as that alternative. The point is that its time for cancer patients to be allowed to smoke so that they can eat without throwing up. Its time for us to have a choice in what we injest, and its especially time for those with very serious illnesses to be able to use marijuana as an alternative to truly addictive gov't made heroin.
