Merely because every language has it's own set of dialects. For instance the Chinese. If you go to any part of China, something that means one thing there can mean another thing elsewhere. Same for England and any other country that has a large population. Though the language is the same the dialect is different.

Why do you americans say that when you mean you don't care?
That means you DO care about something when you are trying to convew that you don't.
Surely, the correct term is "I couldn't care less"
So that you cannot possibly care less about a certain subject than you already do.

So weird... I had this exact that either today or yesterday.
It goes along with how many people think 'I had nothing better to do' is an insult. And in many cases it can be... but can't it also be... "out of everything I could have done, this was the best!"...

I disagree. What is being asked is why people say something that has no basis on what it means. When in fact such a large groups says it it is obviously slang. So speaking of dialects, true it is in a much broader spectrum, is in fact relevant to the topic at hand. Haha, I enjoy making myself seem smarter than I am. It's entertaining.
