I'm really in the dark as to why so many people go to Universities in other countries. I mean why the heck would someone travel across the globe just to go to school? What is their reasons for doing that?

I remember a friend of mine was pretty frustrated because he had to compete with a lot of other Canadians, and a ton of foreigners to get into McGill. There was an unbelievable number of people who don't even live in or anywhere near Canada trying to go there too.

Please please don't take this the wrong way. But what business does someone from the Philippines for example have going to a Canadian university?

To better their English, most likely. It can be quite difficult to learn it if you are not around people that speak it fluently.

A lot of people do it because they get to experience another culture while continuing with their studies. A lot of schools fund the trips, so people that couldn't otherwise afford it have the opportunity to go. Plus, if they are studying a language it gives them a chance to become immersed in it.

Do you plan on staying in your hometown all your life, never getting a job outside of it or going to school outside of it? If not, you can;t say anything because you're doing the same as them. If yes, that's cool beans as well but most people do.

And our schools are better than in poorer countries, so of course they're going to come here. They're here legally, so you don't have the right to bitch. If you get beat out by them, then you have some re-evaluating to do because apparently you weren't good enough. Even Canadians go to the US for school and vice versa, or to Europe, just for the travel experience. It can be a wonderful experience.

They're also paying three times as much to go to that school than you, so they're putting even more into their education than you.
